Welcome to Romancelandia

(or at least my little corner of it.)

Never heard of it? Romancelandia is a place not to be confused with Mysteria, Action-Thrillerville, Women’s Litdom, or Sci-Fi/Fantasyland. These are just a few of the many communities in the wide world of fiction.

You can find citizens of every community on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, well, just about anywhere on social media. I tend to hang out mostly on Twitter but I have a place to hang on Facebook too.

Oh by the way, I’m Rochelle and I write romance. Why? Because love is universal. Love encompasses the majority of our lives, relationships, and experiences. I believe love, in all its facets, is the foundation, the cornerstone of human existence. Without love, the desire to love and be loved, we lose what it is to be human.

There’s something magical about a well-written romance. It offers comfort and hope, a beacon of happiness you can depend on. Regardless of the sub-genre of romance, you’re always guaranteed the “good guys” win, love triumphs over all as the protagonists ride off together into the sunset for their well-deserved happily ever after.

Romance is also feminist AF. You can’t be more feminist than an entire genre primarily written by women, for women. It’s also incredibly inclusive as you can find romance novels with LGBTQX protagonists, of any race or culture, and settings all over the world and beyond, and in any time period of history.

Romances also have a wide range of sexual heat levels from sweet/clean (no sex, profanity, or nudity) all the way to scorching (lots of swearing and graphic descriptions.)

That pretty much covers the basics, I’ll probably take a deeper dive into a the different challenges of reading and writing romance. If there’s a specific challenge you want to see discussed either make a suggestion in the comments, or send me an email through my contact page.
